I don't think knowing the gender detracted from the miracle of birth. Also, I do NOT like gender nuetral things. I liked people knowing what sex my baby was when we were in public.

2. Yes. I had the screening. When it came back as an increased risk, I also had the CVS. Knowledge is power. I don't want to be surprised with anything like that at birth.nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04479202205264710056noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6699387508535902012.post-65834143919722432072008-10-01T13:01:00.000-05:002008-10-01T13:01:00.000-05:00We found out with Aaron because I was impatient. On one hand, the surprise is awesome, on the other hand it's easier to get a 4 year old excited about being a big brother if we have an actual name to go with the baby.

I just did my alpha fetal protein test. It's just a bit of blood and a good indicator. Not that it would change anything, but nice to know if we need to be prepared.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6699387508535902012.post-21459715364761543142008-10-01T12:25:00.000-05:002008-10-01T12:25:00.000-05:00If I had tried as hard as you guys I would want to...If I had tried as hard as you guys I would want to know every bit of information I could, including sex. It's not going to matter the outcome either way. He says no cause it wouldn't change anything, I say yes because if I need to prepare for special needs I'd like to know ahead of time.*Brandi*https://www.blogger.com/profile/04295007970037718516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6699387508535902012.post-24479440750125095062008-10-01T10:49:00.000-05:002008-10-01T10:49:00.000-05:00I can't wait to see the pic, it sounds so cute!I t...I can't wait to see the pic, it sounds so cute!

I think we are finding out the gender, but I'm thinking about not revealing it to anyone until at the shower. That way like you said, I hopefully get most stuff that I need and not a bunch of out fits.*Brandi*https://www.blogger.com/profile/04295007970037718516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6699387508535902012.post-65097287758923467392008-10-01T10:26:00.000-05:002008-10-01T10:26:00.000-05:00It's funny, I thought the women aged far better th...It's funny, I thought the women aged far better than the men at my 20th high school reunion. You are so cute, a twinkle in Daddy's eye! Can't wait to see the U/S picture of your cheering baby.
Re.your questions:
1. No, we did not find out the gender with either son because we did want to be suprised. I feel there are so few suprises in the world, but I'm not the monogram junkie you are!
2. I had blood work screening and high level U/S to check for birth defects w/first son, I was 33 y/o when I delivered him, so not high risk or advanced maternal age. (that phrase cracks me up).
I was 36 y/o with the youngest son and I had an amniocentesis because of my age.
BTW, they have really cute "neutral" baby clothes in newborn sizes which the babies wear like twice. So you will have plenty of time to get cute stuff (monogrammed too!) whatever you and Dean decide.
Thank you also for the birthday greetings. I hope you have a great day!Martha@A Sense of Humor is Essentialhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07129428477996644401noreply@blogger.com
